South Korea plans to purchase an additional 20 F-35A Lightning II stealth fighters to bolster its current fleet.
The $2.9 billion purchase will bring South Korea’s F-35 fleet to about 60 fighters with the planes expected to be procured by 2028.
The country currently has around 40 F-35A aircraft, which is the conventional take-off and landing variant.
