The U.S. Air Force announced it carried out a test launch of its hypersonic AGM-183A Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) on March 13, the second test launch of the branch’s prototype air-launched hypersonic missile.

The missile was launched from a B-52H Stratofortress bomber by the 412th Test Wing off the southern California coast. The Air Force said the missile achieved several objectives during the test.

The AGM-183A, produced by Lockheed Martin, is purported to be capable of attaining speeds greater than Mach 5.

This recent test follows the Air Force’s first test launch of the AGM-183A, which took place in December 2022.
