Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin Expand Missile Interceptor Production Capacity Under New Department of War Agreements

The U.S. Department of War announced on Aug. 3 it has awarded framework agreements totaling more than $3 billion to Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin to expand production capacity for Patriot PAC-3 and Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile interceptor components.
Northrop Grumman will increase manufacturing capacity for critical hardware, including solid rocket motors and structural components, while Lockheed Martin will support expanded production of Patriot interceptors.
The agreements are designed to strengthen the U.S. missile defense industrial base by increasing manufacturing capacity and reducing production bottlenecks for systems used by the U.S. military and allied nations.
According to DOW and Northrop Grumman, the initiative supports ongoing efforts to replenish interceptor inventories and improve long-term supply chain resilience through sustained industrial investment. The agreements represent one of the latest steps in the Pentagon's broader efforts to increase production capacity for key air and missile defense systems in response to growing operational demand.
