Belgium has approved the acquisition of 17 Airbus H145M helicopters to enhance the capabilities of its defense and police forces.

The procurement includes 15 helicopters for the Belgian military and two additional units for the Federal Police.

The H145M helicopters, known for their versatility and maneuverability, will be used for various roles, including tactical troop transport, aeromedical evacuation, and support for special operations. These helicopters will replace the aging Agusta A109 and NH90 models currently in service.

The procurement will be conducted through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA). The Belgian government has also included a five-year support agreement and training as part of the contract.

Deliveries are expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
