Boeing was awarded the contract to develop the United States Air Force's Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) fighter, designated as the F-47, on March 21.

The sixth-generation fighter is expected to eventually supplant the fifth-generation F-22 Raptor and will feature advanced stealth capabilities, enhanced sensors, and the ability to operate alongside uncrewed Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA).

The initial contract is valued at approximately $20 billion, covering the development of the manned variant of the F-47, which will serve as the lead in a fleet integrated with drones.

The aircraft is expected to enter service in the 2030s.
