The Federal Aviation Administration has granted Special Airworthiness Certification to a flying car under development by San Mateo, California startup Alef Aeronautics.

The fully-electric flying vehicle is designated the Model A and is reported to be capable of driving on public roads and possessing electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) capabilities.

It’s reported the Model A has a ground range of 200 miles and an air range of 110 miles.

A Special Airworthiness Certification allows a vehicle to be utilized for several limited purposes including research and development, demonstrating regulation compliance, and more.
