The U.S. Air Force has authorized the F-15’s new electronic warfare system, the Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS), for full-rate production, awarding a contract valued at nearly $616 million to Boeing.

The contract includes the procurement of Group A and Group B kits, system engineering program management, and interim contractor support lay-in material. The production work is scheduled to be completed by 2030, with work taking place in St. Louis, Missouri, and Nashua, New Hampshire.

EPAWSS is currently being installed on new F-15EX Eagle II aircraft and retrofitted onto existing F-15E Strike Eagles.

The system is designed to provide the F-15 fleet with advanced electronic warfare capabilities, including radar warning, geolocation, situational awareness, and self-protection. It aims to enhance the survivability and operational effectiveness of the F-15 fleet by equipping it to detect, identify, locate, degrade, disrupt, and defeat air and surface-to-air threats in contested environments.
