US Approves $3.64 Billion Sale of AMRAAM Missiles to Japan

Deal Includes 1,200 AIM-120D-3 and AIM-120C-8 Missiles, Equipment, and Support, with RTX as the Principal Contractor.

The U.S. State Department has approved a potential sale of AIM-120D-3 and AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and related equipment to Japan, with an estimated value of $3.64 billion.

 

The Government of Japan has requested to purchase up to 1,200 AIM-120 (D-3/C-8) AMRAAMs, along with up to 20 AIM-120D-3 guidance sections and up to four AIM-120C-8 guidance sections. The package also includes an assortment of associated equipment included propulsion sections, warheads, and training missiles.

 

RTX is the principal contractor in the proposed sale.
