US State Department approves possible AIM-120 missile sale to Sweden

The U.S. State Department on July 7 approved a possible sale of AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) to Sweden.  

 

The potential sale calls for up to 250 AIM-120C-8 missiles, up to six AMRAAM C-8 Guidance Sections, and other associated equipment at an estimated total cost of $605 million.  

 

Raytheon Missiles and Defense is the principal contractor in the possible deal.  

 

Sweden operates 71 Saab Gripen C multirole fighters in its air force. Another 60 Gripen E variants are on order.
